Raised in a home filled with music—from classic hymns to Waylon and Willie—Gary Patrick picked up his first guitar at eight and never looked back. After nearly a decade studying under mentor Tom Russell, he moved to Southern California, briefly pursued aeronautical engineering, and ultimately followed his true calling: music. By 21 he was performing along the Orange County coastline, later recording his debut album Fish Fry and touring with the Wilson Sisters of the Beach Boys family.

Gary went on to spend a decade leading his own house band at Las Vegas’ famed Mirage and Bellagio hotels, where he met longtime collaborator Ken Orsow. Patrick later moved to Nashville to focus on songwriting before returning to Texas, where he now performs more than 150 shows a year and has released seven studio albums with producer Chad Mauldin. Through this partnership, Gary recorded all electric guitar tracks—including a #1 single—for American Idol star Fritz Hager’s 2022 album.

His 2024 Josie Music Awards wins for Americana Male Artist of the Year and Americana Male Vocalist of the Year were followed by five nominations in 2025, including Music Video of the Year, Americana Male Vocalist of the Year, Americana Male Artist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, and song of the year for “Montana Moon”. This year he also performed at the Southfork Experience “Dallas” reunion—an especially meaningful full-circle moment for the lifelong fan of the show.
